Just run an upgrade on a site running 5.1.7 to 5.2.3 community ...

The upgrade wizard completed ok - but when I hit the Return to Site link i get

Anyone got any thoughts ???

There might be some information in the EventLog table. It might take a bit of parsing to get the information out.

When an upgrade goes bad on me, the first thing I do is restore [from the file and database backups made before the upgrade] and try again.

Been there done that - the ungrade actually appears to complete - its not until you try to go back to the HOME PAGE after the upgrade completes that the problem appears.

Anyone esle seeing problems like this

Wes;

Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object is a very generic error message.

Are you able to log in as HOST user? If so can you check the Event Viewer for "General Exception" entry for this site?

It will give far more accurate information about what is failing than the "Object reference..." error.

I've seen this error many times as I said at the top of the thread it's generic it could be permissions it could be a 3rd party module it could be Ajax, etc, etc, etc
