Yes sir.  I set it up as recommended in that thread.  It was because of that thread that I tried the impersonation, it was listed as a fix.  If no one else has run into this problem then I'll try blowing out this install and trying again.  I just thought there might be an issue with the new DNN release since I've gotten AD up and running on more portals than I can count without issue.

Install DNN without the provider and then install the provider once everything else is up an running.

I blew out that install and tried 2 more times with the same result.  Tried a 3rd time and chose not to install the AD provider during the setup.  Once the site was up and running I installed the provider and had it configured and working in 5 minutes.  Not sure if there's a problem with the included provider or something odd with my setup but I can consistently get it running on new portals if I install the provider after the site is running.  Thanks for all the help.
