Hi all,

Well, my local test website on my Win 7 laptop.

Running IIS 7 , IE 8 browser

Some Custom Modules -  clicking module Links are hanging intermittently.

This is NOT occurring in Firefox / Chrome.

I have not tried to use IE7 compatibility mode in IE8 ( not sure how yet ), something about creating Custom Headers in IIS 7

Appreciate some help here ! :)

Regards, Paul

Hi again,

Well, I think it has to do with javascript / ajax ....

Any help on how to troubleshoot the hang ?

Maybe using IE 8 Developer Tools ( aka Firebug for IE8 ) to check client side javascript going back to Server.

Will try it tomorrow.

Thanks, Paul

in most cases, there is some skin or module code conflicting with jquery or dnn JS code.

Hi Sebastian,

I don't believe this is limited to links in a Custom DNN Module with javascript conflicts with jQuery or DNN js.

When I click on various links in the DNN UI, the javascript DoPostPack shows in the Status bar but the page hangs.

I can Cancel the Request and Re-Click and sometimes it will work.

I think there is some different behaviour in DNN 4.9 and DNN 5  link processing.

I have a DNN 4.9 site running on the same laptop and running the same modules with no problems in IE 8.

Again, no problems whatsoever in FF and Chrome.

What should I do to troubleshoot this ?

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

I am having the same problem with IE8. I have only used the latest DNN, so I am not sure if there would be problems there. I built it in firefox and have no problems there. The front page in IE8 loads from some computers, but not others and sticks when switching pages. It sounds like you are having the same problem. I thought it might be the different links I have added, but probably not the case since you are probably not using the same links. Lets keep in touch on this and maybe one of us can figure it out.  My website is painclinicsusa.com if you want to see if the problems are similar.

The support at IHost thought it might be an IE8 problem, but your said earlier versions of DNN do not have the problem, just an FYI in our search for answers.

Good luck
