We have a search module on our site that returns results twice for the same page. Both these urls point to the same page:
http://itdpr-017/aochome/educationservices/StaffEducation.aspx
http://itdpr-017/aochome/tabid/84/Default.aspx

Is there a way to prevent the tabid-based url from being picked up?
Besides not liking the format, links coming in off the tabid-based urls mess with some of the relative links on pages.

I can modify the source of our internal module to skip urls with "tabid/" but I don't want to have these pages show up on external spidering sites in this format.

Laura, check out the free URL provider from Ifinity, I use it on all my sites and it handles duplicate urls with 301 redirects.

Will that prevent the tabid urls from appearing in the search results, or just redirect them when they are clicked?

To be honest i don't recall offhand, but if they are visible in the search results, it will redirect them properly if visited.
