I'd like to add an introduction to the forum on the outer form page... however I don't want it to show when I'm looking at a specific forum or thread. If I add an HTML module on the same page as the forum it shows on every forum page, not just the front page.

Is there anyway to do what I want?

Thanks,

I think that because the forum is a module placed on a page- anything you place on the same page as the forum module will show regardless of the appearance of the forum (home/forum/thread views).

But- since you can only post in the forum as a registered user, you can have the text/html module (your introduction to the forum) module-settings-view-permissions set to "unauthenticated"... once your users are registered and able to post, they will no longer see that module.

y01nk is correct. This is a bit out of our control and is how modules on a page work. However, when module action types are set which are not the normal view and those are viewed, users will not see the additional modules.

Why not have an "Introduction to the Forum" forum and threads?

Can you say a bit more about this. Thanks...
