In otherwords, you're asking how to configure DNN for the SSL?  Easiest is to add an Exchange user for DNN, something like "WebAdmin" or the like, and configure DNN for SSL, Basic Authentication (or NTLM) and enter that user's credentials in the SMTP configuration.  Keep in mind that one DNN install has only one SMTP account, you don't set this as a different user for every portal.

Thanks for your reply Jeff,

I understand what your saying. So the certificate would point back to the exchange server. (self issued) & credentials for the exchange user would be encrypted. Which is fine.

but my question is lets imagine I added shopping cart software & wanted to have certain pages secured with a third party certificate. How is this scenario achieved?

In other words I require exchnage user credentials to be secured with a self issued certificate AND shopping cart pages secured by third party certificate.
