Just going through the process of installing DotNetNuke (complete re-install).

Created WebSite, Database etc.  Started installation process, selected All Modules....everything seemed to be going fine.  At end (presumably when trying to browse to website - get same error from IIS and browse), I get the error shown below.

Any clues?

Cheers

Ian

What version are you installing? One thing to check, sometimes Windows blocks files in ZIP files. Right click on the package you downloaded, choose properties, and see if there is an UNBLOCK option on the properties window. If so, unblock it then re-extract the files and try the install again.

I had the same error a few days ago and discovered its cause -- empty PortalAlias table. You can manually add a row to the table if you are familiar with how portal aliases work or re-install as Chris suggested. One additional tip -- don't select all modules...install with the default set, then once you have a working installation, go to Host > Extensions and install the remaining modules. This will ensure that you do not have any errors due to timeouts either on the IIS or SQL side due to the script processing for all the modules.

I've re-installed a few times now.

However, I will re-install again, but this time use the default set of modules and let you know whether the same issue recurs.

Many thanks for responding so quickly.

Cheers

Re-installing with the default modules solved the problem.

Obviously one of them is causing an issue.  If I find out which one I will post back.

cheers

Ian
