For those past the point of rolling back, I have found a work around. Go to Host > Host Settings > Advanced Settings > Friendly URL Settings and add the following:
Match: .*Register.aspx(.*)
Replace With: ~/Default.aspx?TabId=161

Replace 161 with your tabid for registration/profile page.

This is easy to reproduce on a new install. 1) Create a new page and call it whatever you want. 2) Add any third party registration module to that page. 3) Go to site settings and change the User Registration/Profile Page to your new page. 4) Log out and try to register. 5) You are always sent to the dnn registration page. The login setting has been doing the same thing since 5.x release. At least you can hack that by adding a hidden login control to the page.

I created an issue for this in Gemini, but it was closed by Alex minutes after I posted it since he could not reproduce it. http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=11971&PROJID=2 This issue should be reopened.

This is exactly why i hate DNN so much (i'm forced to use it for work). It seems like they break some kind of functionality with every release, do not do proper testing with each release, and generally do not care about their mistakes when they release. One person couldn't replicate it, yet several people are having the same issue. Sounds like a bug to me. (and it looks like it has been verified as one after a previous issue being closed). I really have no faith in the way DNN handles releases at all.
