I'm about 2 hours young with DNN so bear with me as  I am helping out a friend with his site. One of things that I am running into:

The install of DNN was put into a folder off root called /dnn.  While I assume that is proper the issue is and for reasons that make no sense to me whomever set it up also put a redirect in root that sends users to the site www.domain.com/dnn.

Feel free to visit diversionboat.com to see what I mean.

I want to get rid of the redirect so I attempted to use a DNS pointer to send requests directly to the /dnn subdir.  DNN did not like that at all and lost all its formatting, images, etc..

Im sure there is a reason but being new to the architecture I have no idea where to start troubleshooting.

I could also move the install to the root but after doing some searching here I see that would take more effort than I am currently capable of.

Hopefully there is a simple fix here that Im missing.

Thanks!

Joe

Joe are you using GoDaddy's hosting and auto install? Unfortunately that does put things into a subdirectory and making it work any other way has often been difficult.

It looks like right now your webserver's process is down completely as the whole site is erroring out.

EasyCGI is the host and it looks like the install was done manually by the prior admin.  I dont see that EasyCGI offers DNN directly.

Oh joy....looking at why site is now down....

I've fixed a few installs that have ended up like this, and there really is no easy way to go about it besides moving  DNN to the root domain of the site and setting all of the permissions manually on the folders and files DNN uses. After this you will have to change the http alias in the PortalAlias table to reflect this change. Example in the portalalias table, you should have a value like 'mysite.com/dnn', change this to 'mysite.com' and you should be set.

I suggest getting the support from your hosting provider, they need to make sure, permissions and IIS configurations are properly set to run DNN in the root folder. you should prepare your site by adding www.diversionboat.com as additional alias for your portal, go to Host :: Portals and select your portal to do so.
