I am a newbie DNN user trying to install Community Edition on a hosted server. I  FTP'd all of the install package files to my root directly and modified my web.config file per my host's instructions. When I browse to my site/DotNetNuke, I get an HTTP Error 404.0 message. I see all kinds of conflicting information on the internet. Any ideas on where to start  making corrections? I also tries to browse to mysite/install/install.aspx and received a runtime error message.

Have you checked the physical path?  Do you have a default document set?  Will your site run a Hello World! ASP.NET app?
