Hi all,

I'm building a new DNN User Group website and want to use the Events module for our meetings !

I know that the default views are  Monthly Calendar, Weekly Calendar  and Gridview List.

I was hoping there is a way to show the Event Details of the most current event / meeting when the module initially displays.

What I have done is just show the List View with only the EventName field showing without a header with the most recent item but I have to click on it to see the Event Detail.

Here is the work in progress: http://socaldugorg.web707.discountasp...

Thanks for your help, Paul

Not sure I can significantly help immediately, but I'll try.

In 5.0.4 you will be able to use the templating of the description field of the list view to set the layout as you want - here is an example of how this sort of thing can be done - http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/wikipag...

But this doesn't necessarily help you now. You might be able to set the css for the eventname field with a style of Display:None; to hide the column, and then use the templating of the description field as stated above.

Hope this helps.

Roger

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply ! :)

Since, we only have 5.0.3 available for download, I'm going to just use the List View with only the single upcoming Event.

Here: http://socaldugorg.web707.discountasp...

I just put all the Text I can into the EventName field !

Since, most Monthly User Groups want to display the Event Detail as the default , it would be nice to have the Module be able to do this by:

Having a  configuration setting to do this

e.g.  Show first Upcoming Event Detail as the default view.

Many Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,

As described before in version 5.0.4 you will be able to configure this using the list view and by templating the description column. Have you tried my suggestion of using CSS to hide the Event Title column, and then using the templating to format the descriptiuon column to your needs? I'd be reasonably confident you could get exactly what you need with out us having to add any extra functionality to the module.

If you need specific guidance on how to do this, please ask.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

Well, if I paid attention I would have understood what you meant !

So, I added the Description Token to the List  Fields with the Event Name

I changed the Event Name to have some Date / Start Time info and the Event Name Column "wraps" into a smaller width to give the

Description Text the majority of space which is what I want !

BTW, You have been mentioning 5.0.4 but the site is only showing download for 5.0.3 ( which I'm using).

Thanks, Paul
