can i upgrade from 04.08.04 to the latest version in one step ?

I would recommend upgrading to 4.9.5 then to 5.3.1 after you have verified that the 4.9.5 upgrade ran without issues rather than directly to 5.3.1. Be sure to make a backup of BOTH the site's file AND the database before each upgrade.

Note #1: DNN 5.2.x and above REQUIRES ASP.Net 3.5 SP1 AND MS SQL Server 2005/2008 standard or express version.

Note #2: If you have the XML or Chat modules installed, there are known issues in 5.3.1. After upgrading to 4.9.5 and before upgrading to 5.3.1, upgrade the XML module to the latest version (beta) on CodePlex or extracted from the 5.3.1 upgrade package's Install/Modules folder. There is no patched version of the Chat module yet available so I would either delete that one (if installed but not in use) or make a manual patch as suggested in the Chat module forum before the 5.3.1 upgrade.

ok the upgrade to 04.09.05 went great no problems there, but then i wanted to upgrade to 05.03.01 there started the problems first problem was the server error resolved, that with this post http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F...

and then the instalation went well but when i wanted to login i couldnt not get to the login.aspx he went straight back to de default.

 

any thoughts
