I'm running 4.9.0 on godaddy shared IIS7 trying to upgrade to 5.3.1 with no success. I've reproduced this twice now and ALL my portals were fine in 4.9.0. Now everything seems to be stuck in a redirect loop so nothing loads. I can really use some pointers on how to troubleshoot this.

Without the details, it is hard to know... but a simple trick is this.

1. Turn off all performance settings in host settings.

2. Restart Application

3. Upgrade

4. Restart IIS

How does that go?

It ended up being the way version 5 handles tab links. I had set the home pages to redirect to just the domain instead of having 2 or 3 home page urls (example.com/default.aspx). Version 5 doesn't seem to handle that nearly as well and gets stuck in a loop.
