Taken from DotNetNuke forums home page:

41258 users have contributed to 9534 thread(s) and 35615 post(s).

Does this mean, users do write their posts together - did I miss a function of the forums?

41258 is how many users have visited the forum page logged in. 35615 is how many posts there are total in the 9534 threads. This is correct. This total is not the number users who posted nor is it the total number of site users. I don't think showing total site users is of much help, that is why we have the usersonline.

while it can be usefull to know how many users actually visited the forum page, i think it would be equally usefull to know how many people actually participated, so that would be a 4th number:

[total visitors] visited these forums, of which [total number of posters] posted [total number of posts] in [total number of threads]

just my 2 cents

cheers,

Erik

I agree, that number of forum viewers is very misleading and has been the source of many questions here.  I keep getting asked why the UsersOnline module and the Forums modules have two different numbers for total users.
