Do you use the Firebug plugin for Firefox? (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...) This great tool lets you see what CSS is applied to different elments, and it shows which .css file the code is contained within.

A quick way to change the background colour of your DNN site is to add the following css tot he stylesheet editor in the admin Site Settings. This updates the portal.css file which overrides all other CSS files because it comes in at the bottom of the loaded CSS.

background-color:#0000ff;
}
