Thanks for the help Eric, but this doesn't appear to be the problem.  There is no authenticated user in scope.  Even if I did select "remember me" deleting the cookies would cause it to forget, right?

BTW, I couldn't find the code you were referring to in the DNNMembershipModule - there is some cookie stuff going on, but the only code I've found that creates the "language" cookie is PageBase.PageCulture.

Thanks!
Walter

Okay, I found the problem - the Delisoft - DSLocaleSelector module.  I didn't realize this but it modifies the default.aspx and gives it a new base class to inherit.  I don't have the code fo that module so of course couldn't see it's affect.  Unfortunately this solution came too late - I've pulled all my hair out!

Thats a bit of a bug you found there. The code should be the same between 3.2.2 and 4.0.2, and it seems the line is missing in 4.0.2. I checked 4.0.3 as well, and it is not there either. I will pass this on to Vicenç so he can fix this for 4.1 (which is in beta now)

cheers,

erik

Hi, The DSLocalizator runs before the normal localization included in DNN and it includes its own way to configure its own properties... then DSLocalizator accommodates all properties for the normal localization based on your configuration (It extends normal localization). You can enable/disable the use of cookies, browser, GeoIP, etc for language detection..... and....you can establish the order of your detection routine.

DSLocalizator takes the site default language as your default language, but if you change your language using the locale selector, and cookies are enabled (on the DSLocalizator configuration), a cookie with the new selected locale is created.

If you want, you can post more information about your issue to my site and I will try to solve any issue with the next release (Next Sunday)

Regards

Thanks for the offer to help, but your product is working great.  I merely had to uncheck the "Don't use browser locale" option.  The confusion was completely my fault - I installed your module a while back, never properly configured it, and subsequently forgot it was there.  I'm getting older every day
