Here's the quick skinny on our situation:

We attempted to upgrade from 5.2.2 to 5.4.0.  Everything stated "successful".  However, we could not log in to the site as the UserName and Password would no longer work.  After a full day of attempting various remedies, no joy.  So, we decided to go back a week in our backup tapes and restore the entire folder housing DNN.

Now, we get the following Compilation Error:

Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Parameter count does not match Parameter Value count.

Source Error:

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4200; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4016

The folder was completely deleted, server restarted, and folder restored from backup tape.  Obviously, there is some setting outside the folder that is holding an attribute causing this error.

Help?

When restoring to an earlier version you must restore both the file system AND the MS SQL database from your backups. As it appears you did not restore the database, you have the DotNetNuke file system (and in particular the assembly \bin\dotnetnuke.dll) on version 5.2.2 while the database is version 5.4.0 - hence the parameter count mismatch. Hopefully restoring the database will get your site working again.

Thanks for the quick assistance!

Actually, the database is in the same folder so was also restored from the backup tape.  Understand all we did was delete the old folder housing the DNN files and locate the files on the backup tape and basically copy and paste the folder back onto the server.  Obviously we aren't doing something correctly.  Any further assistance you may be able to supply is greatly appreciated!
