I think you should be able to do that by using the default menu of Minimal extropy and set the sub menu items to float left.
But it might be that the JS / CSS of the menu interferes with the CSS you would add.
IMO a simple unordered list menu would be a better option.

Thanks. I finally did it using unordered list menu, the css part is a bit tricky though. Thank you very much Timo.
