Hello all..

I downloaded and installed DNN Community and when though a couple of webniars and reviewed the admin pdf.  I wanted to install a new template so I went out and found a couple of free ones.  I went through the process of installing, which I found the instruction in a ReadMe file in one of the zip files and when that failed I fould the following forum post:  http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/F....  Which basically said the same thing the ReadMe file said.  Anyway I installed the template, at least the process appeared to complete normally but when I go to apply the template to a new portal or change the default site the Template isn't listed in the list to choose from.  Any ideas of what I'm missing?

I guess its posilbe I  just got a bad template or something.  Thought I ask if anyone had any recommendation for any sites with any type of free templates for the latest version of DNN I could try.

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, I assume, you are talking about a Skin package. Skins are installed from Host :: Extensions, after install, they have to show up in the list of extensions installed and be listed in Admin :: Skins, after you switched to "host" mode.

Could you tell us what "Template" / Skin package you installed?

Some you have to unzip first BTW (there's a zip in a zip)

Sorry, yes I believe a skin package is what I was referring to, still getting to know the lingo.. I ended finding a couple of free ones on snowcovered site and got them installed.  I can see it in the extensions installed and in the skins availiable under the Admin section in Skins.  I guess where I'm a bit confused is why the content isn't changing, I thought that by selecting a new skin and its assoicated containers that the content in those containers would show up.  Is that not the case?

Thanks,
Bob

Changing the skin will change the way the site looks, not the content.

You have to add a module to the page and edit the content of the module.
The skin and container are only the wrappers for the content (read modules)
