I downloaded the Web Platform Installer - Deployment package zip and unzipped it. Now what? I downloaded the web platform installer from Microsoft's site and it installs stuff over the web and I can't find a way to get it to use my own DNN files or i don't even know if that's the way it's done.

The zip file needs to have some basic setup file or instructions on what to do with the file. Not everyone is a setup expert.

deployment pack is to be used either by MS to populate the list in web platform installer or by users who want to create their own version of the installer. If you wanna use WebPI just to install your DNN web site, please use the package provided inside, unfortunately, it usually takes a couple of weeks, until the list is updated to latest version, however you may install the version provided and perform an upgrade to latest version.
