Hi all,
I am fairly new to DNN and so far I think it's great.  The only hair-pulling issue I have, and one that has literally cost me over 40 hours of non-billable man hours this month, is the painful search for any kind of documentation.  I know it exists becasue others have been kind enough to point out where it can be found - but the fact that it is seemingly hidden drives me nuts!  Sorry fo the rant but it's related to my question....

Where, if anywhere, can I find documentation about the modules that ship with DNN 5.2?  For the average Joe building a simple website comprised purely of these modules it would make sense to visit Support/Documentation - but...<gasp>  there's nothing there!  Ok, there's a lot there, but nothig that simply tells you how the Announcements module is used - which is where I've been stuck for the better part of this morning.  IT has the ability to "track link clicks" but gives no indication how an admin user might review a report of these clicks.  Hmmmm...I'll just go to DNN and check out the Announcements documentation.  PLEASE...SOMEONE THROW ME A BONE AND HELP ME TO LOVE THIS FRAMEWORK AGAIN!  CONVINCE ME THAT THE WEBSITE IS NOT A COMPLETE CLUSTER F OF SPAGHETTIESQUE NONSENSE!  Oh, and thank you very much in advance.

Sadly there is not a lot of documentation for all modules, some, like the Documents module have full documentation and others do not.

For the link click functionality, that is a funny one as that is actually a DNN feature and reporting can be done various ways, including via the database.

One thing that might help you a lot is the Professional DotnetNuke 5 book that gives the overview of DNN.

I agree that documentation needs to be standardized and improved upon and I know that efforts are being made to get this done.

Thanks Mitchel, you have eased my pain.  Sometimes I feel like the DNN site exists in it's current state purely to drive sales/membership at DNNCreative.  I believe I have a Wrpx book on DNN - and it may be the one you recommended - but my lead developer has it, which reminds me....I need to get that back!  Thanks for the reply.  If I had the time I would draft documentation for all the modules and provide it to the DNN team for inclusion in the module themselves.  It would be great to include a link to a pdf from within the module Settings, wouldn't it?  Ahhh..but I digress...I appreciate the reply.

Are you saying that the Link Click feature is purely to enable logging to the database?  And that I simply (did I just say that?) need to use the Report module to pull the data from the database?

Thanks
