Hi,
Since I started the thread I'd figure I'd chime in. In my case it was,as Alex suggested an SMTP server issue. However, it wasn't configured incorrectly in host settings. It was actually an issue that our hosting provider had to resolve on their end.

hi Alex, these are the test cases and results I tried to implelent. only the host user account is used for testing. I think it would be the same with the admin user, if needed I can repeat the test this user. I am not sure these are problems or missing of settings.

Case 8 -

"The server response was: No such user here" - This is coming from your mail server, please consult your mail servers logs. I suspect emails are not being relayed to gmail.com (or even any external email address, try further external email addresses - see my previous responses).

Other mails are being delivered because your mail server handles delivery for these emails internally (i.e.. boeagem.com, ergzzz.org). Note where the mail comes FROM is irrelvant in this case.

So in summary you probably need to set up your SMTP server to allow your DNN website to relay email to external addresses (check with your mail administrator, or consult your mail server documentation).

there is still an issue, that there is no option for a "no-Reply" address per portal to be used in emails to admin users and other system messages.

Hi, I am dealing with the same problem "No such user here".  My ISP answered me that when my DNN is trying to register new user, than DNN is trying to log to email server with new user's email. So if I am registering user with user@hotmail.com it will try to log to mail server with user@hotmail.com account., which of course is completely different from the account I have put into SMTP settings of my portal. DNN 7.2.0
