I have a moderate PDF file that is 8 megs in size.

If I make a link to the file in a Text/HTML module and use the LinkClick approach, then clicking the link will download the file and then open it on my computer.  In other words, the file doesn't open until the entire file has been downloaded.

On the other hand, if I specify a direct URL, http://mysite.com/portals/0/thefile.pdf, the file begins to open almost immediately while the file downloads.

Can someone explain this to me?

Joe,

When linking directly the download is passed off and handed to Acrobat and it does the download and starts showing content as it comes down.

When linking with linkClick.aspx it actually streams the content down, not giving acrobat direct access to the file, thus the delay for the file to download fully before it opens.
