We have a Windows 2008 active directory domain that employees authenticate against for LAN and Email access.  Every employee has a user account in the domain, and we have purchased a Client Access License (CAL) for each person.

We also have external clients who need to be have access to a help-desk environment.

So... my question is... Can we add domain accounts for external clients so that they can authenticate against active directory via DNN?  I'm sure the answer to this is "yes"... BUT, do we need to purchase a CAL for each external client who will never use a windows client to connect to the domain (they will only be using DNN)?

TIA!

I believe you do but it's been a long time since I looked at CALs. Your best bet would be to check with Microsoft.
