After upgrading DNN 4.9 to DNN 5.4 all instances of the HTML/Text module give a long error message, but the following section seems to repeat:

The project currently contains references to more than one version of DotNetNuke.WebControls, a direct reference to version 2.2.0.7 and an indirect reference (through 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html.HtmlModule.lblContent') to version 2.2.2.0. Change the direct reference to use version 2.2.2.0 (or higher) of DotNetNuke.WebControls.

Also, although logged in as Host, the extensions option is ghosted and choosing the Module Definitions directly from the Host dropdown results in another batch of errors. It appears that the other management options and modules are working.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi

I have tried several times to upgrade my 4.9.5. site and only getting errors.

Now I have tried to take version by version - but only errors! (I have 3 languages on my site)

Latest I have tried to upgrade to 5.4.1. and I am getting this error:

Server Error in '/prop' Application.

Compilation Error

Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

Compiler Error Message: BC30560: 'DataProvider' is ambiguous in the namespace 'DotNetNuke.Modules.HTML'.

Source Error:

Line 40: Line 41: ' singleton reference to the instantiated object Line 42: Private Shared objProvider As DataProvider = Nothing Line 43: Line 44: ' constructor

Source File: d:\hosting\sigboliger\prop\App_Code\HTML\DataProvider.vb    Line: 42

Now the problem is, that even I try to roll back, this error is still there, so I have no site!!

Can anybody help?

Best Regards,
Per

I managed to finally "roll back" this DNN installation back to it's original state (4.9) and restored the db. It took about 5 hours using Godaddys cpanel. The problem is that you have to restore back through each previous version in order to get to 4.9 -- and there are a BUNCH of versions between 5.4 and 4.9! During the step back through each prior version I attempted to test the site and found that each of the "previous" versions (all of them 5.x)  threw some sort of error(s) until I got back to 4.9.

I can only assume that 4.9 cannot be directly upgraded to 5.4...

The original reason for this upgrade was to accomodate a new skin which is designed for DNN5.x (the menu / nav won't work on 4.9). I was able to contact the skin developer and he said he could modify the skin to run on 4.9.

Jim

Upgrading from 4.9.5 shouldn't be an issue.

There are a number of issues related with the GoDaddy service itself.

I would suggest attempting an upgrade locally (copy database and files across to your local machine) when DNN 5.4.2 comes out.

Per, at first glance, your issue appears entirely different to Jims, I would suggest googling the error message (I think there are a few threads out there) or start your own thread.
