I have taken over a portal that is running 4.00.03 and I am trying to upgrade it.
First I made an exact copy of the original install. Then I tried to upgrade in steps.
I started with 04.03.07 and it started the upgrade. At first it failed on the 04.00.04
sqldataprovider. I tried it again and it had errors on two of the other updates. But
it said it was successful in the end. I tried to log in and had critical errors all over
the place. This portal has over 7000 users so I don't want to just start over. I see
that there are user import and export tools out there. But none of them support
04.00.03 and will allow me to import them into the newest versions. What is the
easiest way to do this?

if you experience upgrade errors, you need to analyse and restore backup. fix interfering records and redo the upgrade. DNN 4.3 introduced a new membership component, if there are issues, some users might be unable to access the site.
