Hello All,

I have a site running DotNetNuke 5.3.1.  As I currently have a developers licence for Telerik I have been using telerik controls in custom modules for a year now.  the version of my telerik files is 2010.1.309.35

I struggled to upgrade from earlier 5.x versions to get 5.3.1 running but did eventually get it working by modifying web.config.

However, I am now trying to move from 5.3.1 to 5.4.1.  I have included in the bin folder the telerik files supplied by Telerik, or the files supplied by DNN.  I can build the site successfully.  I can view the markup of any of my custom controls, however, I cannot view the ascx files in the designer.

I have spent the last five hours trying to get my solution to go into designer mode.  I can run the site, I can build it, I can use the radGrid controls in run time, and I can edit the markup files and all works ok, but I cannot view the markup in designer mode or split mode.

When I ask it to switch to designer mode, VS2008 locks up and I have to end it with task manager,

any help would be really appreciated,

Hello All,

I solved my problem

Initially I thought that this problem was related to telerik.  I now know that was not the case.  Eventually after trying everything i tried a brand new web project, and it also could not display design mode for a webform.  This caused me to eventually google for "Visual Studio Not responding", and at that point i found the following article  http://huddledmasses.org/visual-studi...

This article will describe how to identify that another setup.exe is trying to run and the issue was caused, not by upgrading to 5.4.1, but in fact was caused by the fact that just a few days ago, I upgraded to Office 2010.

IOW, this is not a telerik issue, and it is not a DNN issue.  it is a VS2008 and Office 2010 issue.

Sorry for posting here in correctly, and I  hope my efforts assist someone else.
