My DNN installation is 4.9.5. I have created a parent portal and pointed the domain to the DNN istallation. When I try to access the newly created portal I get the following error message.

HTTP 404 "The webpage cannot be found"

What can be done to correct this?

Also, if I use the "portals.resources" in the install template directory to re-install my portal. Should the <portalalaias> contain my new "domain name"? Example: <portalalias>NewDomainName/ExsitingDomainName/ps</portalalias>

Confussed on how to get this up and running.

Gary, Parent Portal means your first Portal (Portals/0)?

A child portal is a sub-portal?

Let me try to explain what I'm trying to accomplish.

1. I have a 4.9.5 DNN site up and running great. Example: http://abc.com

2. I want to create a new site from my abc.com DNN portal. Example: http://123.com

Note: I don't want http://abc.com/123 or http://123.abc.com

Question: How could I accomplish this using the portal creation options from the Host>Portal menu? Do I create a child portal?

Thanks for your input and patience.

You need create a Parent Portal. Did You? If yes, go Host/Portals and edit the new Portal settings. Expand "Advanced Settings/Portal Aliases" and make sure your new domain is below "HTTP Alias" .

Hi Luiz,

I did create the parent portal and the name is in the portal Aliases. That's why I'm confuss.

One thing to mention. If I look at the folder structure, I see the portal ID folder but there is only a template directory and some .jpg files in it. But if I look at the 0 folder there are multiple files and folders (such as skins, containers, modules, etc.). Not sure if that's how it should be.

Thanks again for your help.
