I think we've been following the upgrade instructions to the letter. I'm not sure what you mean by Object Qualifier.

ObjectQualifier is one setting in the sqldataadapter section of web.config, and when you upgrade, you need to preserve

  • connection string
  • object qualifier
  • encryption keys
  • any individually added / altered entries

from your existing web.config. copy them into release.config, rename web.config to web_old.config and release.config to web.config.

Thanks, Sebastian.

We'll make sure we have all of those things from the old web.config. I think we had the encryption keys but not the object qualifier.

Object qualifier OQ was introduced IN DNN 2 to allow multiple DNN installations to share a common database - with having an individual set of tables and sprocs per installation. AFAIK, this stopped working with the introduction of MS membership provider ("AspNet_" tables)

If you change the OQ during upgrades, DNN does not recognize the exisiting tables and sprocs and generates new ones - failing due to existence of aspnet tables.
