I have one server that has SQL Server 2008 where I have created a DotNetNuke database and Network Service Login under Security.  I have another server that is our webserver with IIS installed on it.  This is where I unzipped the DNN files at C:/DotNetNuke.  I changed the web config file to what I thought I needed for my other server with SQL on it.  On my web server I also created a Default Web Site with a virtual directory 'DotNetNuke' pointing to my DNN folder.  When I open internet explorer and go to http://localhost/DotNetNuke, it comes up with the install screen, but I can't do the auto install.  It has this note:

The Auto option has been disabled as the DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database. You can continue to use either of the other two Wizard options and configure the Database settings at the appropriate Wizard step.

I've looked on forums, but I can't find a solution that has worked for me and none of them talk about working with 2 different servers.  Am I doing something majorly wrong or is it just that my webconfig file is wrong or my permissions somewhere?  I had originally installed professional trial on one server (testing) that had both SQL and IIS and I got it to work.  Everything seems to be the same as that install, it's just not working when I'm trying to use 2 different servers.  Any ideas on what's going wrong?

I'm not sure you'll be able to use the Network Service account for security from one server to another. That account is a local machine account, so you might have to reference it using the webserver's name then the account name if it will work at all. I would recommend creating an account to use in the connection string to get DNN to connect.

You also can walk through the install wizard and type in the information for your account as you go through the wizard, though you will still have to create the database and user first.

Ah, alright.  That makes sense.  So I created a new login and recreated the database with that user being the owner.  I then changed the web.config file to use that username and password and it still wouldn't let me check the auto option, but when I tried continuing and just entered the username and password, it didn't give me any errors and it went to the 'Run Database Installation Scripts' page.  The red progress line is going, and the textbox says that it's installing database Version 05.00.00 and it's been sitting there like that for over 2 hours.  Is something stuck I'm assuming or does it really take that long to install?  If I stop or exit out of internet explorer, will I have to unzip the files again to make sure it gets a clean install?

Okay, so I must've done something wrong.  I stopped the install and deleted all the files in my DotNetNuke folder.  I readded the files from the zipped folder and opened the main install internet page.  The auto option was available this time, so I clicked that and then hit next.  The install worked and it only took a few minutes.  Thanks for the help!!!
