Hi, I have a dnn 5.02.02 site that doesn't have too many modules but I'm having a difficult time upgrading it to asp.net 4.0 and 5.2.2. First off, is asp.net 4.0 required for this update? or you can run in asp.net 4.0 but it isn't required? Because I couldn't get the site running at all under asp.net 2.0.

All I did was unzipped the upgrade over by test site, ran the upgrade, no issues reported there, tried to go to my site and it wouldn't work. The issue (don't remember for sure) was something about mime types and aspx pages not being served in the right way. Then I opened in vs2010, fixed all the bugs so that i can compile as 4.0, changed my application pool to asp.net 4.0 and opened my site. Now it came up, but with "tagprefix cannot be null" error on my home page, but all others worked fine.

I coudln't make any changes to the front page, so I edited the database and removed all modules from the home page. After a while that error cleared up, but now i'm noticing that all links that perform postbacks, like logout, update, cancel lintks, they don't work.

I see that this many folks are not having any issues, and I don't have a very custom site, are there directions to upgrading that I missed out on?

Thanks,
Viktor.

Are there IIS settings that I need to change?

you don't need to use ASP.Net 4 to run DNN 5.4.2, but ASP.Net 3.5.1 SP1 and SQL Server 2005 or above.

The "tagprefix" error may have been caused by the DNN Gallery v 4.03.00 module which has a number of issues when running in an ASP.Net 4.0 application pool. There is a beta release of Gallery v 4.03.01 on the project's CodePlex site http://dnngallery.codeplex.com which corrects this and other ASP.Net 4.0 problems.

I'm not using DNN gallery, the only modules I had on the front page were Markit Slideshow, Events calendar themed small, 2 custom modules which were pulling in data from other sources and displaying most recent additions, and ventirian recent news module.

Is the installation supposed to be straight forward as I mentioned before? just unzip, upgrade and run? I have asp.net 4.0 installed, but my prod sites only run under 2.0 classic.  I am also using sql server 2005.
