I definately want to add a different logo to the website. Also, I might want to add some other things in the area above menu. Is there an easy way to modify/add things to this area? What would be the best way about doing this?

I'm thinking I need to add another pane to the default skin. Would appreciate some help with this if this is what I should do. Should I modify one of the files in the "C:\DotNetNuke\Portals\_default\Skins\DNN-Blue" folder? If so, do I just open the file, make the changes, then copy back into the folder?

Also, I enabled banners at the host level in site settings. It placed an example banner next to the logo area. In this banner it says to use the vendor module to manage site banners. How do I get to the vendor module? I have added the banner module, but I cant seem to be able to modify the banner in the area next to the logo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

to preserve your changes from being overwritten during updates, do not alter default skins. you can easily clone them, save with  different name and add the elements you need. Have a look into the skinning guide, that explains, how skins are done. The guide is included in the documentation pack, you can obtain from the download page.
