I am having a fairly significant issue with a DNN site I've got for a customer. Something is causing DNN to crash 5 times in a row, which then causes IIS to shutdown the application pool, which then results in the dreaded "Service Unavailable" page

The crash that is happening is a fatal crash, I'm not getting ANY Events written to the DNN Event Log with regards to the Shutdown reason, nor am I getting any events written to the Server Event Log.

The events I get in the Event Log just look like:
- Application Started
- Application Started
- etc...

4 times in the row. (Which is 5 crashes, 4 restarts).

I've got a number of custom Modules that I've written, all of which are installed in other DNN installations, and I'm not getting the same behaviour. Most of the other sites are larger than this site, with MUCH more hits. I log EVERYTHING in my application, and it doesn't seem to be throwing any errors at all.

I'm really stuck and don't know where to look any more....

Has anyone else experienced this problem at all??? or got any tips on where to start looking??

Details about the installation are:
DNN v04.09.05
SQL2005 Database.
IIS6 on Server 2003
Running in Partial Trust environment at hosted facility (WebCentral)

Any help would be MUCH appreciated

Regards,
Grant

one thing is you could use a free keepalive service to ping the keepalive.aspx so the website doesn't effectivly reload all the time. However I would suggest looking into upgrading the code of your website to at least 5.2.3 as this was a stable release. I must say the latest version 5.4.2 has been really excellent on a buggy website I had I have literally removed all the bugs. I understand upgrading a website to the latest code will be a major upgrade. But you should start reviewing the upgrading DNN section of this forum. I would be start reviewing all your modules and seeing if there is updates for them. Hope this helps

I do have a keepalive running. I use a product called AlchemyEye, and have it "pinging" the keepalive.aspx page every 5 mintues.

I'm going through the process of seeing what it would take to upgrade my installation to v5 series.

Thanks
