Hello,

I have a few pages, various combinations of which I'd like to make available to users depending on the level of service they choose.

Question(s): Is there a way to assign a player to a group depending on the service-level they choose?
That way the different pages will be available to the different service-level-groups.

Also, once a user chooses one level of service and wants to upgrade to the next level, what is the best way to facilitate that?
ie: allow an upgrade payment to be made and then assign the user to a different/appropriate group?

All payments via paypal.

Thanks

You can use one of many third party modules to sell "Roles", and basically have them build on each other.

Bronze = Gives 3 pages
Silver = Gives 5 extra pages over bronze
Gold = etc..

Then on pages that should be available to both Bronze and Silver, allow viewing for both roles.

Thanks for the advice Mitch, yes, you're right, the services will build on each other.

I was also considering creating/adding the user to a different group, depending on the service-level they choose.

Something like this:
User a signs up to bronze, gets basic service (page 1 & 2)
User B signs up to silver, get enhanced service (pages 1, 2 & 3) AND is able to add up to 4 other users to his own "group" and give access.
User C signs up to gold, get elite service (pages 1,2 3,4 & 5) AND is able to add up to 25 other users to his own group and give access.

Users added to groups (not primary user) have view-only access to primary user services but only paid users (at least bronze) have edit/manipulation access. In a group of 25, only 4-5 need to modify data, the rest simply view data.

I can set this up manually as users register and sign up (not a starter with 10K users), however, I want the user to be able to manage their own "group members" and nothing else. I would like all this set up right after payment confirmation with minimum input (if any) from my support/admin staff.

I thought of creating child-portals for each Gold service member but don't want to spawn 100s/1000s of child portals and have to manage a huge portal hierachy.

Any third-party recommendations?

Thanks

The service levels and PayPal integration is fairly easy with Roles or the core subscription functionality. I recommend the Ventrian Subscription module (you can see my PokerDIY Pro Sign Up page here - it handles invoices and reminders etc) - they can click through to PayPal and when they get back they immediately have access to everything in the Pro role that I have defined (for example, they wont see any ads (you need DNN 5.x for negative perms).

The problem you have is the groups functionality, I think you will need a custom module for this I'm afraid...
