I'm a bit confused... I had DNN running fine. We made a backup of the fully working DNN DB. Restored it to the exact same server but with a different DB name. So at this point everything is EXACTLY the same (tables, sprocs, permissions, etc...), with the exception of the DB name only.

I pointed DNN to the renamed DB and the the site won't load. I get an error saying that the site is redirecting me in a way that will never complete. I pointed DNN back to original DB and it starts to work again.

Is there some kind of odd DB name dependency that I need to be aware? I need this working under the new DNN DB name.

sounds like there may be a problem with the user -when you restore a database to a different server it appears that the user is valid, but in fact it's not (as you've only restored the database, and not the reference in the master database). I'd recommend you check for these "orphan users" (http://www.fileformat.info/tip/microsoft/sql_orphan_user.htm). In addition make sure that you've updated BOTH connectionstrings.
