Hi,

I am new to DNN5 having previously used DNN1. I see that there are 3 types of folder that can be created;

Standard - File System
Secure - File System
Secure - Database

and that security can be set, but I haven't see any documentation that describes these folder types. Can anyone either point me at documentation or describe these folders?

I would like to have a public folder containing documents that can be read by non-registered users, and a restricted folder containing documents that can only be read by registered users. Which folder type would be most suitable?

Many Thanks, John

use standard folder for all public files (can be linked directly and indexed by search engines. Use Secure folder in file system for your private file, in this case files are accessed using LinkClick.aspx http handler, which checks folder permissions.

Thanks for that, and the secure file system folder is secure, it cannot be accessed in another way, and the contents will not appear in search engines?

Cheers, John
