And about my second question as follows:

we would like to implement the following request with token method , it is possible and a better way?

Token is [Summary], we hope to pass a parameter into it to limited the length of output, for example [Summary|120]  or [Summary:120]is just get the first 120 characters.

Appreciated any help!

Baldwin, there is no syntax included for truncating strings, only formatting and Null substitution. However, for your own objects, you get passed the property, which may include a length specification to be handled inside. Another implementation (I prefer) would be a module setting for summary limit, which is used when populating the property. There is even a method in DNN core to truncate smartly at word boundaries.

Richard, extensibiltiy of TokenReplace is targeting developers. Of course, you may create your own version of core HTML module with extended number of tokens supported, but there is no general or module specific substitution of variables implemented in the DNN core.

Great response. But our output is created dynamically by the property [Summary] with a module settings [Limit] as you mentioned. How to deal with it? And a small code sample will appreciated much. Thanks a lot.

Baldwin, for your module you need to implement your own tokenReplace, which may take the linit into account, when issuing [summary]. For a samply, I created an enhanced sample of HTML 4.9 module supporting templating using tokens, drop me an email leupold at dnnwerk dot de, and I will send it to you.
