Do you use the complete new DNN install or the Upgrade version?

 David

Since I have a running DNN install that I am upgrading I use the Upgrade package.

It really is simple, after backing up EVERYTHING just copy all files and folders over the top of your existing site files and folders then run the upgrade as described above.

Couple of exceptions to the copy and replace all files is if you have customized the logo.gif or favicon.ico, I typically remove the DNN ones in the root and the Install directories from the Upgrade package before copying to my site; everything else gets copied over.

Hope that helps.

I tried again - using just the Upgrade files.
Now I get:

Line 32: Implements System.Web.IHttpHandler Line 33: Line 34: Private Sub RenderToResponseStream(ByVal Response As Web.HttpResponse, ByVal controller As XmlController) Line 35: ' save script timeout Line 36: Dim scriptTimeOut As Integer = HttpContext.Current.Server.ScriptTimeout

**EDIT - Due to formatting.

 Ahhh, yes, the XML module comes back to haunt.

There is an incompatibility with this module and newer versions of DNN during upgrade only. It will run if installed afterward.

Quick and dirty to fix your problem, if you are not using the XML module (if you are might be more complicated):

1. Edit the web.config, remove the line that refers to the XML directory in the "codeSubdirectories" section, afterward should look something like this:

2. Delete the XML directory from the App_Code directory

Your site should fire right up!

If you need the XML Module you can re-install afterward.

The right way to fix the problem:
1. Restore (again), verify site is running
2. Uninstall the XML Module from the Admin
3. Repeat upgrade process

Sorry, that one slipped my memory as it is not a typical step in the upgrade process but is something that I have run into.

Good luck again!

My webconfig file has the following:
<!-- register your app_code subfolders to generate granular assemblies during compilation
      <codeSubDirectories>
        <add directoryName="sub-directory name"/>
      </codeSubDirectories>
      -->
      <codeSubDirectories>
        <add directoryName="IFrame" />
      </codeSubDirectories>

There isn't a XML folder.
