I know it is possible to create pages that  reference a module from another page that will update the content on all pages when the content on one of the pages changes.

What I have not been able to figure out is if it is possible to create a page, export the page as a template and create pages based on the template that will have linked modules so changing the content on one page will update all pages based on the Template.

Is this possible with DNN?

Also, is it possible to restrict a module marked as "place on all pages" to a specific content pane so if a page does not have the pane it will not be placed on the page? It seems that if the page does not contain the pane the original module was placed on it defaults to the main content pane. The sites I have been working on recently would greatly benefit from being able to have this capability.

 Hi Jim,

As it happens I tried this yesterday, unfortunately reference modules were created as completely new instances.

Cheers, John

Jim, the answer to both questions is no.

OK, so if I can't create a template that gives my client a page to use as a base for reusable content, what about the copy page functionality? I know I can create a page and then create a copy of that page using the Reference Modules options and have the modules be linked between the two pages. The problem I have with this approach is that the copied page seems to bring over the references to the modules, but not the skin reference so I have to apply the correct skin after the copied page is created. Is this by design or am i missing something when I create the page copy?
