I am experiencing unexpected behaviour where an event has a Detail page.  In Calendar View, clicking an event Title takes a user to the event's Detail page as expected, rather than to the Event Details screen.

Eyeglass icons are provided in the Calendar view to allow direct access each event's Event Details screen.  It appears that a User must have the Events Moderator permission set in order for the eyeglass icon to appear.  I would prefer them to only need View Module permission, and would hope this gives them the ability to also Enrol for the event.

If there is no Detail page, the user only needs View Module permission to see the Event Details and to Enrol.  What is the intended behaviour?

(I will put this in Codeplex as a bug!)

Cheers, Richard

Hi Richard,

The current way it works was by design. It is intended as an either/or option. The eyeglass option is intended for event editors, and should therefore be visible to the event creator, moderators and administrators. If this isn't how it works for you, please let me know.

We will consider your feature request on CodePlex for a future release.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger

I am using custom event pages as an 'and' option, which obviously explains why the module does not behave the way I expected it to, and explains why you have not felt a need to provide a hyperlink from the Event Details to the custom page!

I am trying to augment the functionality of Event Details, not entirely replace it.  For example I want to retain the booking and payment functionality in Event Details.  So far I have not changed a single line of code in DNN though I have written some synchronising database triggers.

I do have a link from each of my 1000+ custom pages back to the matching Event Details, which may provide a two-click path for 'under-privileged' users who hopefully can still view the Event Details via this path (my router will not let me test this easily as the back-link is a full URL and I am on the same segment as the website).

Alternatively I suppose I can just drop the custom Event page concept altogether and have stand-alone pages which are hyperlinked from the Event Note (description).  In effect I already have these pages and links in place - just have to flick the DetailPage bit in the database.  Pity really ...

Cheers, Richard
