Upgrading a multilanguage, multiportal site from 05.02.02 to 05.04.02, the error below occurred in SQLDataProvider file. When I started the site up there were some serious problems with the configuration of the portals: some portals had no logo, the wrong skin, the wrong home page and the wrong site title.

I rolled back the upgrade and examined the tables in question, and indeed, the PortalLocalization table contained rows for portals now deleted. I presume that was the reason for adding the FK with cascading delete. However, obviously you need to delete orphaned rows before it can be created.

So, I deleted the surplus PortalLocalization records, and upgraded again. That solved the FK issue, but the title of the first portal was still copied to all the other portals, and the logo of some was missing. One site was misconfigured to the point that I couldn't edit the portal settings: it threw an NullReferenceException.

Has anyone encountered similar problems with a multiportal upgrade, and found a solution?

By the way, the errors in the second upgrade attempt, as listed in the upgrade trace, were:

00:00:02.593 -   Executing Application Upgrades: 05.03.00 Error!
00:00:15.453 -   Installing Package File Messaging_01.01.00_Install:  Error!
00:00:19.421 -   Installing Package File Taxonomy_01.01.00_Install:  Error!

In case it gives anyone any clues!

The FK issue has been reported by Stefan Cullmann yesterday and a fix checked in. The duplication issue has been reported afair, but I am not sure, whether it has been fixed for DNN 5.4.3/5.4.4 yet, you may search yourself on support.dotnetnuke.com.

The issue was reported in Gemini by David Lee (http://support.dotnetnuke.com/Default...) but has been marked as closed ("Unable to Reproduce") so I can't add a comment. I can confirm that there is an issue with the upgrade here, that looks to me like an upgrade showstopper for ML users.

unfortunately, the fix will not be included in DNN 5.4.4.
To fix it yourself, prior to the upgrade enter SQL in Host menu and run the following statement:
DELETE FROM {databaseOwner}{ObjectQualifier}PortalLocalization
WHERE PortalID Not IN (SELECT PortalID From {databaseOwner}{ObjectQualifier}Portals)
