Hello all,

I have a Silverlight4 app developed from the CodeEndeavors SL module template.

This will appear for a user: a) if they're registered and trying it (2 week limit) and b)for the period of use they pay for - 1 week, month or year.
Running in-browser is not an issue managing that but OOB is an issue.

Question: any idea how I can retrieve the time-limit/expiration date for the users membership in DNN, from the SL app. while running in-browser?
I want to write this to an encrypted file in IsolatedStorage and disable the app (OOB) if membership has expired, forcing the user to renew membership and get the latest version. A new membership/lic file will be written into IsolatedStorage upon membership renewal and/or app update.

I have tried contacting the guys from CodeEndeavors but never get anything back....

Some help/insite on this or any similar SL app scenario would be appreciated.

Thanks

You gonna have to write a webservice for DNN called "GetRole" or something and then if your SL app is connected, it grabs the data and caches it locally.

Rodney, I think you're right. I've tried going through the CodeEndeavors template code and there seems to be too much to change/add.

I might follow Mike Washington's SL app tutorial as it has a webservice and data connection, then transfer what I pick up from that, into my app.

Looking through the DNN database model, I'm not even sure what piece if data to get that might say when a member's access expires.
I think I might need a 3rd party module from DataSprings or similar. Something that allows me to limit access time based on a subscription choice.

If you have any more tips/suggestions, they're welcome.

Thanks
