For a while we have been supposing that forum notifications improves traffic and conversation within the forums. Since the Dotnetnuke forums had no notifications for so long then was activated with the update to the forums I would be curious to see the analytics of the forums.  Any chance that the DNN people would be willing to share the data?  Even if it is presented as percentages not hard niumbers it would be interesting for people to know whether to enable forum notifications.

Kind Regards,
Justin

Even if we were to provide details, there are far too many factors to determine (from this site alone) if notifications on/off changed traffic. If anything, it would be more likely that visitor traffic was up because they had no option to see posts otherwise (and this is a very active site). Honestly, I am not even sure if we wanted to provide details we could (for a couple of reasons, one being I don't remember the exact dates they were not working).

IMO, this is going to vary from community to community. If your site is currently low volume (and very few forum posts, if any, happening per day) notifications are probably going to help you more than a situation where the site is very active (like this one).
