I've been looking for a good document search for Dotnetnuke, and the only one I can seem to find is Apollo, but it's fairly old.  Is anyone aware of any new document search modules?  Or if apollo still works great?  I tried asking them but got no reply.

Thanks

there have been a couple of 3rd party search extensions, unfortunately one of the most popular has been acquired by DNN Corp. for exclusive integration into their commercial versions.

Hello Mike,

I have recently had the chance to use the Bring2Mind document management software and I have to admit that I am looking forward to incorporating it into one of my own projects.  I loved getting an email when the doc is updated.

I have heard it mentioned that this is the premier document management software for DNN, but I have not tried them all, so you have to decide that for yourself.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Michael, Search implies being able to read the contents of a document. This invariably means the solution has to leverage iFilters on the server to open and read the documents correctly. Then the contents can be indexed using for instance Lucene. This is roughly what DMX does when you upload a document (note DMX does not index the documents in the DNN file system, but only its own contents). Because of the specific nature of content indexing it is not part of the DNN Open Core (i.e. Community Edition). Best, Peter
