Are there any setup guides for MY SQL or MSSQL?  I have been looking for a while without any luck.

If you mean how to setup MySQL or MS-SQL, pls ask the supplier.

If you mean, how to setup DNN on either one, thats easy, at least for MS-SQL.
- login as dbo on the database-engine
- create a database and call it like you want
- go to security (not of the db but for the whole instance)
- create a user with default db just created before and db_owner-rights

And sql should run in mixed-authentication mode.

Thats it.

MySQL? No clue, whether it is working at all. Try to find over searchdotnetnuke.com

sorry, Kai is not quite accurate: - if you are using MS SQL Express with file based connection string, you only need to enable impersonation. this will however prevent you from accessing your web site using SQL Server Management studio or any other DB tool - if you are using classic connection string, you need to create a blank database and grant the appropriate user account dbowner permission to it.

Sebastian is totally right, as usual ;-)

I never use sql-express in the file based mode due to the mentioned limitations.

Then it does not matter during the install wizard of DNN whether you use MS SQL or MS SQL Express.

Name the host where the db-engine is runnin on, whereas with SQL-Express you have to add \sqlexpress after the hostname.
