I have the same problem (my domain is www.mugsjc.com.br) with DNN 4.0.3 and I tried those options but none worked:

- Add an alias (through sql bebause the application  does not work because of this issue)
- Remove all portalAlias
- Update the localhost alias to www.mugsjc.com.br

For the 1st option It keeps redirecting to the localhost, for the 2nd It returns an error and for the 3rd It loads over and over and over again trying to load the web site.

How can I fix that? Did I also have to change any file?

if you change the portal alias directly in the db, you will have to clear the dnn cache, because the portal aliases are cached. If you cannot get to the site, you can try recycling the application pool to make sure the cache is empty

cheers.
