I was wondering what people do to monitor their web sites to get statistics, does having a DNN site introduce any complexities with one page default.aspx or with all urls having the tab id's? Does any of the packages that people use allow them to associate tab id's to an actual readable description. I am just starting to poke around so any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

Tim.

Hi Tim - have you checked out the site log?  If enabled, it allows you to find out quite a few things about the site.

If you need to have specific search word counts and stuff like that you might need to do one of the following

  • Add a third party module that does stats reporting within the site
  • Apply for a Google Analytics account
  • Use a Third Party stats module

My clients have been happy with the reporting that the Site Log does and I suppose if you're into more indepth analytical information you'll have to look at these options.

Hope this gives you more insight.

BTW - you need to enable your stats in the Host/Settings/Advanced section of your site AND in the Admin/Settings/Host area.  The first one sets the global parameters - and the other one sets the site parameters.
