Is there any way to do this without Oliver Hine's module?  His module crashed some custom programming I had.

sure..follow guide in slideshare below, and leave out the step for Oliver Hines module. Just activate the analytics in Admin, set to asynchronous, and insert the codeper the examples in that slideshare
