I have a sandbox paypal account with vendor and customer accounts. On the DNN store module, I have a 1 cent product, which I use for test purposes.
Whenever I make a purchase, I pay with paypal and am auto-forwarded back to my DNN store with the following error message:

Your order has been received and saved, but your PayPal payment could not be verified automatically. We will manually verify your PayPal payment and will then process your order.

You can view the status of your order at any time by accessing the "My Account" section of our site.

I have done google searches on the text of this error and read every forum post that showed up-
From these posts, I have been able to learn that the problem is one of two things;

1. The store page is not open to All Users, and therefore misses the information that Paypal is passing it, or
2. The paypal account has not yet been activated.

It can't be 1, as I have my page and module visibility set to all users. It also can't be 2, as on the Sandbox accounts page, it clearly states that both accounts have been verified.

Does anyone have an idea as to what's happening? I don't want to go live just to run into this problem again on the first purchase.

Hi Don,

The message you receive when returning from PayPal IS NOT an error message but just an information! If you want to use the sandbox, check the setting 'Use PayPal Sandbox' in the Store Admin module AND connect to your paypal developper vendor account BEFORE trying to order (this is required by PayPal). Please read this post for detail about PayPal Gateway settings. Don't forget to enable IPN at your PayPal account (dev or real)!

We (team members) are Humans offering their knowledge, their work and their spare time FOR FREE to benefit the community. It would be so particularly appreciated that your messages begin with "Hello" and end with "Thank you" or any other form of politeness. Ask yourself what your reaction would be, if you were approached by me (a total stranger) on the street to ask you something without saying "Hello" nor "Thank you"? After several years of services dedicated to the community, I begin to be tired to read requests without any form of politeness.

I tried out what you said- ipn indeed had been disabled- but, sorry to say, it is still giving me the same info when I complete a test order.

I'm going to read through the developer guide that you recommended to the user in the thread you linked me;
There may be some initial setup that I did wrong.

I haven't seen anything in the Developers' manual that would help.
So far, the only thing I have left blank that might be interfering is the Email of the Business.
I'll fill that in when we're done testing, but I don't think it should have an impact on whether or not the site recognizes the purchase as valid...
Still looking around for fixes, but I've run out of ideas for now.

Hi Don,

In my previous post I have explained than the IPN must be enabled! You tell me than you have disabled the IPN, the Store module CAN'T receive the response from PayPal if you disable the IPN! The DevPayPal guide explain how to configure and use the sandbox and give detail about the IPN.
