This is probably a very stupid question, but I'm very confused right now.
I installed DotNetNuke to my XP computer and everything seemed to go fine.  I was expecting though to see it in the Start menu in the list of programs, but it's not.  So how do I launch the program and start creating a website?  Or am I totally wrong about what DotNetNuke is and how you go about using it?

What did you use to install DotNetNuke? The INSTALL package? or the Starter Kit? If you used the install package you would go to http://localhost/dotnetnuke (or whatever URL you configured in IIS). If you used the starter kit open up Visual Studio 2008 and choose a new Project, look for the DNN templates.

please be aware that DotNetNuke is a web server software, not a desktop application. Follow Chris' advice and call it on the localhost server or inside visual Studio Express (Starterkit)/WebMatrix

Wizzy, Welcome to the world of localhost, webservers, http, web.config files, visual studio, html, IIS, virtual directories, application pools, machine keys, upgrade kits, starter kits, install kits, gemini, source forge, url re-writing, sql servers, manifest files, style sheets, skins, and a solid understanding of file and database security permissions etc etc etc.... ...and a lot of upgrades along the way... DotNetNuke is going to cost you some serious time to get it worked out, and there is a lot of terminology thrown about on these forums. If everything installed OK, you need to... 1. Open Internet Explorer (or whatever web browser you use) 2. Type "localhost/dnn into the address bar (replace dnn with the name of the virtual directory/application you configured in the setup) 3. Press enter....and hopefully you see DNN appear. Then it's a matter of logging in with your admin account and using the control panel to add pages, add modules and generally start building your website. Hope you get it worked out.

Thanks for the help, but it's still not working.  The page I get says "You are not authorized to view this page", but I'm logged on to the computer as an administrator.
And while I'm on the topic of how to use DotNetNuke, once I create the website on my computer, how do I move it to the hosting company?
